Merry Christmas 2010

Another amazing year has passed with many blessings from our Savior.

As I stay home with Cohen, I continue to be obsessed with Family History.  It has been so much fun connecting with distant cousins and solving the mysteries together.  It’s amazing the kinds of stories, records and pictures I have found on our ancestors.  If you’re interested, I’d love to share.

I have enjoyed my second year of serving on the Twin Falls Parks & Recreation Commission.  It has been fun serving the community and getting an inside look at the local politics.  This past year I served on a bicycle safety committee, which recommended several changes to our current city code.  It was a long process, but the City Council did approve all but one of our recommendations.
Cohen continues to amaze and entertain us daily.  It’s a delight to watch him explore and figure out how things work.  He enjoyed his 1^st birthday with a BBQ with family and friends.  During the nice weather, he wanted to be outside digging in the dirt and playing with his toys.  His favorite movie is ‘Cars’ and loves reading Clifford the Big Red Dog, Little Critter and Dr. Seuss.

We made a summer trip to Ketchikan, AK in July for my 10 year High School Reunion.  It was great re-connecting with old friends and staying with my brother and family.  Ty took us out shooting and tested our skills on the pistol and rifle police qualifying exams.  TJ did really well on the rifle test. I miss the beauty of Alaska and the amazing seafood.  Ty feed us well, especially on his birthday, which we were able to spend with him.  Cohen loved playing with Oscar, the Golden Retriever.

In August, we joined Mama and Scott up in Cascade, ID for a couple nights of camping.  Cohen is defiantly a water baby just like his Mom.  We loved swimming in the lake and swimming pool.  Cohen wasn’t sure about riding the 4-wheelers at first, but he soon grew to love them.  Mama even treated us to the Starlight Theater to watch the Scarlet Pimpernel.

We’ve learned the difference between renting and home owning this past year.  We had to replace both the dishwasher and the stove, yikes.  Thankfully we’ve been smart and have a budget to purchase both items when needed.

This school year has been better for TJ and easier on all of us.  TJ is still teaching 6^th grade science, with one advanced class this year.  Since they finalized the curriculum and he has a set of lesson plans from last year, he is able to be home more.  He has also received several grants to purchase science materials for his classroom, and continued to participate in extra college classes and workshops.
