Well....last week I was in my first and hopefully only car accident. I was driving two of my cub scouts home from our bowling activity. It was during rush hour traffic and the scout behind me asked a question. As I turned to see what he was taking about, apparently the car in front of me stopped. When I looked back to the road, I didn't have time to stop without hitting him hard. The front air bags deployed, windshield crushed, hood bent up and front fender ripped off, yep....I totaled my car.
Thankfully everyone was okay and it was the car, not the van. I'm grateful for wonderful car insurance, who has been very helpful and fair during this whole process. Of course, the police officer had to issue me a citation of following too close. The car was drivable to get it home. I did go to the hospital for observation after we got home, since I'm 9 month pregnant. Baby and I were A-OK. Unfortunately, the scout in the front seat, did suffer a mild concussion from hitting his head on the air bag. The parents of both boys were very gracious and forgiving as they know accidents happen. I'm so thankful we were all okay, just my car was totaled. It's been an adjustment to be a one car family again. We'll start doing research and adjusting finances to hopefully get another car before school starts.
