Reflections

Cam, this is for you:

Things this last week and a half have been interesting to say the least. This is the largest step that I've made in growing up. Some claim that going to college was where I took this stride, but in reality, college was just an intellectual playground for me. The warm cloak of ambient intelligence was wrapped around me as I sauntered through corridors in the ivory tower.

This is the first time I have been 100% responsible for beginning a new phase of my life. The pressure fell to me to find a job to support a family, housing, moving arrangements, insurance, and all the other trappings.

It has also severed the "immediate" connection that I have had with many good friends. While I am a digital person, I am also one who needs physical access to friends to keep the communication alive. I've always been very proximity based.

This leads to the silver lining to the whole ordeal. Tennille and I have grown closer as we have shed many things that kept us from being as reliant on each other. We love all the things that we had to leave, but we have grown from the pain and are better for it. Now we want the other things back!

Maybe now I can get to sleep...
