TJ has a tee-shirt with the term "dumpster diver" written on the front. I never thought I would become a dumpster diver, but boy, is it fun!
Early on in our dating, TJ and I enjoyed going to yard sales. Recently, when our family was visiting for graduation, we realized that the most expensive furniture in our living room was a $15 wooden T.V. stand/end table. The rest had been free to us! Most things in our home have come from yard sales, or from dumpster diving.

We also received a number of things from Vito. Long story short, Vito is a friend of a friend who moved back to New York, after graduating from college, with only the suitcases he could carry. The rest of his possessions were left in his rented house that he had lived in for four+ years. The intent was that whatever his friends didn't want, the rest was left for his landlord to take care of. We inherited a nice couch, bookshelves and 2 car loads worth of stuff from him. It is now the family joke to say, "oh, that came from Vito."
We enjoy finding items that our friends can enjoy as well. We organized a free swap meet at church earlier this spring. It was a huge success and all the left over clothing was donated to a local clothing bank. By our estimation, there was about 250 cubic feet of clothing left when we were done!
If you would like to re-distribute some of your wealth, we would be honored to take things off your hands. :)
Vito, you will always be dear to us in our hearts...

We do the same thing! Most of our stuff came from family and friends who got new furniture. I'm glad you have a blog now!!
